At the Huvafen Fushi resort in the Maldives, a new “pop-down” underwater restaurant has opened. Situated 26 feet /8 meters below the water’s lagoon, Immerse…Latitude 4˚ let’s guests dine in an unlimited aquarium of marine life.
The new ‘pop-down’ restaurant currently resides in the underwater spa and basically offers diners unparalleled views of dreamlike turquoise space with an abundance of fish.
After a short walk across the lagoon and down a few steps, guests are transcended into an ethereal private world. In the evening, the seascape is illuminated with marine life, some of which including the corals glow under UV light.
This divine culinary experience allows diners to create their own menu based on their tastes and preferences.
Note, Immerse…Latitude 4˚ is the latest in underwater dining in the Maldives. At the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island, Ithaa Undersea Restaurant has been noted as the world’s first underwater restaurant. There’s also the very elegant Subsix at Niyama which must be reached by speedboat followed by descend via staircase on a platform in the ocean. At SEA which is found at Anantara Kihavah, the underwater restaurant has the world’s first dedicated underwater wine cellar.
