The Secrets of Cognac

Cognac country and its traditions continue to be a mystery.  Records indicate the region goes as far back as the 9th century – if not earlier, but there are no actual facts to determine its earliest existence.  A visit to Cognac will unlock the doors to the secrets of making brandy.  Rich in history a trip to this region is not complete without visiting medieval castles and mansions dotting the landscape rich in cobblestone streets.  Smell the aromas and cleanse the palate as you indulge in cognac workshops and visit prestigious cognac houses ranging from Remy Martin to Courvoisier to Camus as examples.  There you will indulge as you experience extraordinary tastes of VS, VSOP and XO.  A VIP privileged visit to the Cognac houses will include lunches and dinners prepared by Michelin star chefs.  Learn how to make your own cognac, visit open-air markets, and cruise down the river Charente.   Nearby are the medieval fishing villages and harbors of La Rochelle and Ile de Re – ideal for walking, biking, and enjoying pristine white sandy beaches.

There are plenty of golf courses both in the Cognac area and in nearby Royan.  Royan, situated off the Atlantic coast is known as a glitzy vacation spot with beaches, cruises and has one of the best golf clubs in the region.

Less than two hours by car, Bordeaux is in short distance to Cognac and thereby offers travelers a great way to end their trip.
