Canouan, which is located in the Lesser Antilles in the southeastern part of the Caribbean, is one of 32 islands that make up St. Vincent and the Grenadines. From the U.S. there are no direct flights which means a trip here requires a little maneuvering from other islands such as St. Lucia or Barbados with then another short flight by propeller plane or private jet.
Visitors will indulge in the island’s only five-star hotel – the Mandarin Oriental Canouan. There are 26 ocean-facing suites with marble floors and those on the ground floor have direct beach access. There’s also the brand new Patio Villas that are light and airy designed in natural wood and stone. During high season it’s more than $10,000 per night.
The luxury resort which consists of 1,200 acres offers five restaurants and bars, a Balinese-style spa, a kid’s club, a golf course, and an Anglican church used for weddings and other ceremonies. On the nearby surrounding hills are the Grenadines Estates, which sell for $8.5 to $20 million. The homes can be rented out as well.
