Despite travel limitations, Florida is booming and plans to offer plenty of new attractions, hotels, and tourism activities for next year. Take a peek at some of the highlights.
Northern Florida
For those who enjoy adventure travel head to the Fanning Springs to enjoy activities including cave diving and fishing. Tube down the Suwannee or Sante Fe Rivers.
On February 1 along Florida’s Emerald Coast the Hotel Effie Sandestin will open offering a luxury spa, state-of-the-art fitness center and the only rooftop pool in the area
Central Florida
In Sarasota, the well-regarded Marie Selby Botanical Gardens will take over Historic Spanish Point on Little Sarasota Bay. The latter is both an archaeological site as well as one of the state’s largest waterfront preserves showcasing native Florida flora. At the Marie Selby location in downtown Sarasota, they will showcase “Roy Lichtenstein: Monet’s Garden Goes Pop!” This is the pop artist’s interpretation of Claude Monet’s paintings of his garden and surroundings at Giverny.
Walt Disney World Resort’s EPCOT is undergoing the biggest transformation of any Disney park in history which will unify four neighborhoods: World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature and World Discovery.
In summer 2021, Universal Orlando Resort will debut Jurassic World VelociCoaster, Florida’s fastest and tallest launch coaster.
Along the Space Coast, two SpaceX Crew Dragon launches are planned from Cape Canaveral in 2021.
Southern Florida
The Gale Boutique Hotel & Residences Fort Lauderdale will open next month and will offer a rooftop sky deck, fitness center, spa and pool.
In Miami, the new attraction Skyviews Miami (an observation wheel) has opened, hovering above Bayside Marketplace near the Port of Miami. Visitors board enclosed, climate-controlled gondolas for 15-minute rides with great views of Biscayne Bay, Bayfront Park and Miami’s skyline. One VIP gondola will be decorated with a glass-bottom floor, leather bucket seats and an LED lightshow.
At the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, the largest exhibition about flying reptiles in the U.S. will debut on May 15. The exhibit “Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of Dinosaurs,” is organized by the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
